Payment File Services
We offer a range of electronic payment file services that are efficient, secure and cost effective.
SEPA (Single European Payments Area) Payment File Services
SEPA enables customers to make electronic Euro payments in Payment Files to anyone located within the SEPA zone using BIC (Bank Identifier Code) and IBAN (International Bank Account Number) under the following schemes:
SEPA Credit Transfer
A SEPA Credit Transfer is a non-urgent Euro payment debiting a euro account and crediting another euro account in the SEPA zone using a BIC & IBAN and a uniform set of standards, rules and conditions.
SEPA Direct Debit Originator
The SEPA Direct Debit (SDD) scheme (SDD) is a pan-European system that can be used for domestic and international collections in 33 SEPA zone countries (28 EU member states as well as Switzerland, Norway, Liechtenstein, Iceland and Monaco).

We provide a facility to upload multi-currency payment files via iBB. In order to have this facility, customers will need to be able to generate a file which is compatible with one of the two available multicurrency file formats multicurrency file formats.
Direct File Submission (DFS) Service
The Direct File Submission (DFS) service is a secure alternative way for customers to submit very large bulk payment files that are too big to send by iBB. As a guideline, files in excess of 10K items are the minimum requirement for DFS. However, applications are considered on a case-by-case basis. For more information, please contact your Corporate Cash Management Relationship Manager.
The files can be any of the following types of payments:
- SEPA Direct Debits (SDD)
- SEPA Credit Transfers (SCT)
- Multi-currency Credit Transfers (MCY)
AIB currently supports two DFS products:
- Secure File Transmission Protocol (SFTP)
- IBM’s Connect Direct
1. Secure File Transmission Protocol
Customers will exchange files with AIB over Secure File Transmission Protocol. This will be a direct connection that requires the customer to have a secure internet facing transmission service capable of SFTP.
2. IBM Connect Direct
In this new era of rigorous security and shorter processing windows, IBM® Sterling Connect:Direct® provides security-rich, point-to-point file transfers. It is optimised for high-volume, assured delivery of files within and among enterprises. Sterling Connect:Direct can deliver your files with:
- Predictable, assured file delivery through automated scheduling, checkpoint restart and automatic recovery.
- Security-rich transfers that help keep customer information private.
- High performance that can handle your most demanding workloads, from high volumes of small files to multi-gigabyte files.
