Accounting for almost 4% of GNP and total revenues of €8.25bn in 2016, the Hotel sector is the lifeblood of many regional economies throughout Ireland. It is estimated the sector employs over 220,000 people directly. There are currently 821 Hotels with over 58,000 bedrooms in the country and there is a requirement for 3,000-5,000 additional rooms in Dublin alone. We explore the key growth markets and point out the importance of diversifying to limit any potential impact from the drop in UK visitor numbers.
